If you're a growing company, you can at some point switch to GoTo's Central, their software solution aimed at offering full IT support services to a distributed workforce through remote access. In fact, even GoTo has its own enterprise-level remote management service. Other services are aimed at larger businesses and offer more devices, like TeamViewer Premium, which costs $99 per month but offers an impressive 300 managed devices and a cap of 50 users. There is one big con: GoTo's Pro supports a limited range of managed computers, starting at just two for the Individuals plan, and maxing out at ten computers under the Small Businesses plan. Users can even check their work computer from their mobile device, making Pro a flexible way to stay on the ball from anywhere.
It's not just for individuals, though, as any young distributed startup or small white collar business may need the same service. Pro is best for individuals who are away from their office frequently, whether travelling or working from home, but who need to access files, email, or software from their work computer. GoTo does currently offer a 14-day business trial, but that's the most you'll be able to get without opening your wallet. In January 2014, GoTo (then LogMeIn) permanently retired its LogMeIn Free tier, so you'll no longer be able to use any version or plan of the service without paying. It used to be, which is why you'll see a lot of conflicting answers to what should be a simple question. No, GoTo's Pro is no longer a free service. All the features and abilities remain the same. This plan tier offers access to up to 10 computers and five LastPass Premium licenses. Small Businessesįinally, the Small Businesses plan costs $129 per month, once again billed annually for a total bill of $1,539.99 each year. The features remain the same: The ability to remotely access and remotely print from computers, 1TB file storage, multi-monitor display, and unlimited users. The performance of page rendering was significantly improved, which was helpful, although page thumbnails now no longer load. The Power Users plan offers access to up to five computers along with three LastPass Premium licenses for $70 per month, billed annually at $839.99 per year. Turns out they decided to revamp the UI with almost 0 feature inclusions.
Anyway, when bluebeam for mac 2.0 came out, we bought in thinking that we'd be getting all of the features that we were missing along with performance improvements. What's more we really felt the lack of some features from the windows side, many of which were so basic that it's laughable that Bluebeam decided not to invest in them. considering that we regularly deal with 100+ page architectural sets, this made the program worthless in a lot of cases. It took several seconds to render every page. It became clear within the first week of using the software, though, that it was incredibly slow. I went ahead and gave the presentation anyway, though and with some convincing, we bought seats for everyone.
Playing with the trial version of 1.0, though, I quickly realized that a ton of features were absent from the windows version. I even gave a lunchtime presentation to show everyone some of the really powerful features I had come to know and love from the windows side. The last 3 are at my most recent job, and when I found out that Bluebeam had created a Revu for Mac, I was quick to push our company to adopt. I've been using Revu for about 8 years, 5 of those on Windows. It has given them a sense of invincibility that has led to stagnation and a lack of genuine support for their customers. I wish there was another one out there so that these guys didn't have a monopoly on the market.
To my knowledge, no other PDF software is geared towards the A+E market.
